Milwaukee Police Officer Hosted Party Prior To Fight, Arrest

Authorities say an off-duty Milwaukee police officer was involved in a fight at his house during a party. One man was rushed to the hospital

MILWAUKEE, WI — Authorities say a 25-year-old Milwaukee man has been hospitalized with serious injuries after he and an off-duty Milwaukee police officer were involved in a fight on Sunday morning, authorities say.

According to Milwaukee police, officers were sent to the 4500 block of W. Cleveland Ave. just after 7:40 a.m. Sunday. April 19 on a report of a battery complaint.

Police say they found the victim laying on the ground, unresponsive. Authorities say he suffered serious injuries and was rushed to the St. Luke's Medical Center.

Police say the off-duty officer, later identified as Michael Mattioli was arrested. He's a 13-year veteran of the police department and has been placed on full suspension, authorities said.

According to a JSOnline report, the victim was at a party that was hosted by Mattioli. A fight broke out at the party, resulting in the victim getting seriously injured.

The state is currently under a stay-at-home order, which prohibits large gatherings and non-essential travel. The stay-at-home order was recently extended until late May. Milwaukee police are actively enforcing the order.

According to online jail records, Mattioli is currently being held in the Milwaukee County Jail. Charges are pending, according to records.
