3 Milwaukee Officers Shot Thursday Are Expected To Survive

Three Milwaukee police officers were shot while they were serving a warrant on the city's northwest side Thursday morning.

MILWAUKEE — Three Milwaukee police officers were shot while they were serving a warrant on the city's northwest side Thursday morning. All three officers are expected to survive.

The 35-year-old suspect was wanted on charges of felon in possession of a firearm, false imprisonment, and sexual assault, the Associated Press reported.

The incident took place after four officers came to an apartment complex on the 5300 block of North 91st Street. Officers tried to communicate with the man when he started shooting at them at about 11:40 a.m., police said.

"Our officers exchanged gunfire with the suspect," Police Chief Jeffrey Norman told reporters. "After the gunfire ceased, officers continued communication with the suspect."

The officers were part of a special investigations division, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported.

The suspect eventually surrendered two firearms that had extended magazines and was taken into custody. He has not been publicly identified by police.
