MILWAUKEE, WI — Milwaukee's East Side will be hosting a prohibition-themed Halloween event within various bars on Friday, Oct. 25.

This historical night-out is set during the prohibition-era of the 1920s and 30s, and honors the passing of the 18th amendment 100 years ago.

Organizers say this year's Halloween event is inspired by Milwaukee’s own prohibition history. During prohibition, many breweries in Milwaukee had to switch from providing alcohol to products like carbonated sodas or candy in order to stay in business.

To put a 2019 twist on it, each of the East Side’s participating bars will be hosting an adult trick or treat. There will be candy, and if you’re looking for something a bit stronger you may get your hands on some “secret” drink specials.

From 8 p.m. until bar close, party-goers dressed in their best prohibition-era costumes can go "on the lam’ on the East Side at Von Trier, Landmark Lanes, Crossroads Collective, Shanghai
Speakeasy, BaccaNera Enoteca and Winebar, and Izzy Hops Swig and Nosh.

These bars hosting the event will be free to enter, though you've got to be at least 21 years old to get in.
