Molson Coors Shooting Is Wisconsin's 11th In Last Two Decades

Wednesday's shooting was the latest in Wisconsin, which has seen its share of mass shootings over the last two decades.

MILWAUKEE, WI — The shooting at Molton Coors Beverage Co. in Milwaukee on Wednesday was the latest in a string of mass violence in Wisconsin over the last two decades. Gov. Tony Evers ordered that flags be flown at half-staff after five employees were gunned down at the campus and the shooter, a 51-year-old brewery employee, took his own life, according to authorities.

Since 2004, there have been eleven mass shootings in the state, including Wednesday's shooting at Molson Coors.

Authorities say Chai Soua Vang, 36, shot and killed six people, wounding two others, after he was asked to leave a deer stand on private property in rural Sawyer County. At the time, authorities said a total of 14 people were staying on the property when tensions between the group escalated, with Vang opening fire on the group.

March 2005: Brookfield Sheraton Shooting

Terry Michael Ratzmann shot and killed seven people during a Living Church of God service at the Sheraton hotel in Brookfield before taking his own life, police said. A 15–year–old boy, a 17–year–old boy, a 72–year–old man, and a 55–year–old woman all died at the Sheraton. A 44-year-old man, 50-year-old man, and a 58-year-old man all died at local hospitals.

June 2007: Delavan Shooting

Authorities said Ambrosio Analco killed his twin infant sons; their mother, their aunt and a friend who had been visiting their apartment. Analco, 23, later took his own life, police said.

Oct. 2007: The Crandon Shooting

Forest County Sheriff's Deputy Tyler James Peterson took his own life after he went on a shooting spree, shooting and killing six people and seriously injuring a seventh at the apartment of his ex-girlfriend, police said.

July 2008: 4th of July Shooting

Police say three men fired a total of 37 gunshots into a crowd in a Fourth of July shooting left four people dead and two seriously injured. Kendrick L. Jackson, 34, Jacoby E. Claybrooks, 28, and Theresa Raddle, 23, all of Milwaukee, and Marielle Fisher, 27, of Glendale all died in the shooting, police said. The shooting happened in the 2500 block of N. 28th Street at a party.

Oct. 2012: Azana Spa Shooting

Four people were killed and four others injured Sunday morning at a mass shooting at the Azana Salon & Spaacross the street from the Brookfield Square mall. Authorities identified 45-year-old Radcliffe Haughton of Brown Deer as the shooter. His body was found inside a locked room in the spa, 200 N. Moorland Rd., Brookfield Police Chief Dan Tushaus said.

Aug. 2012: Sikh Temple Shooting

Seven people, including gunman Wade Michael Page, died after a shooting rampage at the Sikh Temple of Wisconsin in Oak Creek, authorities said. Police said Page was a noted white supremacist who took his own life after being shot by police. According to authorities, Page thought the Oak Creek Sikh Gurudwara was a Muslim mosque."Aug. 5 has never left my mind," former Oak Creek Mayor Steve Scaffidi told Patch after the shooting. "It's a part of our lives, a part of my life."

May 2015: Man Kills 4 In Menasha

Authorities said Sergio Valencia del Toro killed a 33-year-old man, an 11-year-old girl, and a 31-year-old man, and wounded a 32-year-old woman after opening fire on a group of people he did not know who were standing on the Fox Cities Trestle Trail bridge. Valencia del Toro later took his life, authorities said.

March 2017: Vang Shot By Police

Nengmy Vang was killed after police stormed his apartment and opened fire in the Town of Weston, police said. Authorities say Vang killed four people, including a divorce attorney, a police detective and two office workers.

July 2019: Lake Hallie Shooting

Authorities in Chippewa Falls say a man who killed four people and wounded two others before killing himself may have been trying to copy the Jayme Closs abduction the previous year. Chippewa County Sheriff Jim Kowalczyk during a news conference said Richie German, 33, is responsible for the shooting deaths of Laile Vang, 24, as well as his mother Bridget German, 66; brother Douglas German, 32; and nephew Calvin Harris, 8. Police believe German may have killed his family a day before killing Vang and himself during an attempted abduction.

Feb. 2020: Molson Coors Shooting

Police say a 51-year-old Milwaukee man who worked at Molson Coors took his own life after opening fire on the campus and killing five people. Police are continuing to investigate this case, which is one of Wisconsin's most tragic shooting incidents.
