Man Killed In Milwaukee Police Shooting Identified

Police say three officers opened fire on the 27-year-old man after he pulled a gun on them during a police chase.

MILWAUKEE, WI — Milwaukee police have identified the man who was fatally shot by police on Monday, Feb. 24 as 27-year-old Lucas Alvarado.

According to Milwaukee police, Milwaukee police officers were sent to the 1500 block of S. Union Street just after 1 a.m. for a shots fired call.

Police say they saw a man that fit Alvarado's description, and ordered him to stop and remove his hands from his pockets.

According to police, Alvarado ignored police orders, and ran, leading officers to chase him.

During the foot pursuit, officers ordered Alvarado to stop several times and remove his hands from his pockets, police said.

According to police, Alvarado brandished a firearm, at which time officers fired shots at him, striking him and resulting in his death at the scene.

Milwaukee police say the officers involved are a 30-year-old man with about two-and-a-half years of service, a 31-year-old man with about four years of service and a 23-year-old man with about 18 months of service time. All three officers have been placed on administrative duty, based on department policy.

According to court documents, Alvarado at the time was wanted by Milwaukee police on multiple charges, including two counts of second-degree recklessly endangering safety, substantial battery, armed robbery, and fleeing and eluding an officer stemming from a case filed on Jan. 8, 2020.

State law requires another law enforcement agency to investigate officer-involved shooting cases. The Greenfield Police Department is investigating this officer-involved shooting case, police said.
