Police Search For Driver In Fatal Milwaukee Hit-And-Run

The Tuesday collision left the male driver of another vehicle dead and his 2 passengers, including a 1-year-old girl, hospitalized.

MILWAUKEE, WI —Police said they continue to search for a known suspect in connection with a fatal hit-and-run collision that took place Tuesday in Milwaukee and left the driver of a vehicle dead and his two passengers, including a child, hospitalized.

TMJ 4 has identified the victim as 40-year-old Teion Cooper.

The two-car collision took place at about 6:09 p.m. in the 5500 block of N. 37th Street and was preceded by the suspect attempting to flee from Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office (MCSO) deputies, police said. TMJ 4 reported that there also was a passenger in the suspect's vehicle.

During the police pursuit, authorities said the suspect disregarded a stop sign and collided with another vehicle. Police said speed also was a factor in the collision.

TMJ 4 reported that the car carrying the three victims rolled over, and that Milwaukee Fire Department (MFD) personnel had to extricate the victims from the car.

MFD said Cooper died at the scene after lifesaving efforts were attempted.

A one-year-old child who was riding in the car was taken to Children's Hospital, and the child's condition is unknown, according to TMJ 4. The other passenger, a 43-year-old woman, was taken to Froedtert Hospital, where she remains in good condition.

The MCSO said both the child and female passenger have non-fatal injuries.

TMJ 4 reported that the two occupants of the fleeing vehicle left the crash scene on foot. Police have asked for the public's assistance in their search for the driver of that vehicle.

TMJ 4 reported that the MCSO has started an investigation into the initial pursuit, which reportedly began when deputies spotted the car driving recklessly going northbound on Sherman Boulevard, south of Hampton Avenue.

The MPD said it is investigating the circumstances of the fatal crash.
