MILWAUKEE, WI — President Joe Biden responded to a heckler during his visit to Milwaukee on Monday for Labor Day, according to reports and news broadcasts from the event.

Biden opened his Laborfest speech at the city's lakefront by expressing appreciation for tradespeople and other union workers and attributing his previous wins to support from unions. The president then spoke of unity and proactively clarified that not every Republican is a "MAGA Republican, not every Republican embraces that extreme ideology."

"The extreme MAGA Republicans in Congress have chosen to go backward full of anger, hate and division," Biden continued. After the speech, Republican candidate for Wisconsin governor Tim Michels released a statement targeting his opponent Tony Evers and Biden.

Later on, during Biden's speech, cameras panned to show a man apparently saying something to the president and gesturing with his hands. Biden had looked his way and replied, "Alright, God love you... ...Look, everybody's entitled to be an idiot," Biden said.

"Extreme MAGA Republicans don't just threaten our personal rights and our economic security, they embrace political violence," Biden continued as the man was escorted out of the event.

In his news release after Biden's visit, Michels said “I understand and respect workers, especially blue collar workers who get their hands dirty, and work long hours."

“Joe Biden and Tony Evers are going to learn in November that blue collar workers and labor are key components of the growing coalition we’re building,” Michels said in the news release. “Their tired, old politics of class envy just doesn’t work when they cause hyperinflation and force folks to pay for loans they never agreed to.”

Biden's plan to cancel numerous federal student loans comes as Wisconsin posts a surplus that Gov. Evers recently estimated will grow to $5 billion by the end of 2022.
