Skeletal Remains Found By Youtuber In Abandoned Milwaukee Church
Investigators are hoping to identify a body discovered in an abandoned building near Burleigh Street and MLK Drive on Aug. 10.

MILWAUKEE, WI — A partially skeletonized body was discovered in an abandoned building in Milwaukee recently and authorites are looking to the public for help in bringing an identity to the man.
A Youtuber found the body on Aug. 10 on the second floor of a long-abandoned building that formerly housed a church near Burleigh Street and Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, according to the Milwaukee County Medical Examiner's Office narrative report. Authorites have been trying to identify the body since it was discovered, and on Thursday, the medical examiner's office took to Twitter with photos of rings found with the man.

An official from the medical examiner's office visited the scene shortly after the Youtuber reported the death to police, according to the agency's report. The building's plaster walls and ceilings were crumbling, garbage was strewn about, including clothing, lighters, food wrappers and drink containers, while one room was filled with old school desks, the report said.
The man was wearing multiple layers of clothing, the report said, including athletic pants and long underwear. Parts of the body were mostly mummified, and the back of his jacket was torn, but no underlying injury to the body or bones was immediately observed, according to the medical examiner's office. Authorites have not been able to find family of the man.
The man who found the body gave a cell phone he found to police, but police confirmed the phone's owner is still alive, according to the medical examiner. It was unknown where the man found the phone.
The medical examiner's office has multiple other open cases of unidentified people found dead in Milwaukee dating back to the 1970s.
