MILWAUKEE — Summerfest announced Thursday its dates for the next festival in 2022 and some free admission hours before its final weekend.

Summerfest 2022 will take place over three weekends: June 23-25, June 30-July 2 and July 7-9, the festival said. Hours are from noon to midnight.

The festival hasn't said who will play on stage next year, but said it will announce the lineup in the future.

The festival will also extend its free admission hours for Fan Appreciation Day on Saturday. Free admission hours last from noon to 7 p.m. and the first 30,000 fans to enter through the gates during these hours will get a ticket for admission to Summerfest 2022.

“As we were forced into September dates, we knew it would be a novel experience to host the festival in late summer. That said, it was the only viable option to accommodate artists and fans within this fluid environment,” President and CEO of Milwaukee World Festival, Inc., Don Smiley, said. Smiley said the festival thanked its attendees, vendors and sponsors for their support.
