Summerfest Headliner Pixies Cancel Tour Over COVID-19
The prominent alternative rock band has canceled its tour, including a Summerfest show.
MILWAUKEE, WI — A 2021 Summerfest headliner canceled its show because of the surge of COVID-19 cases over the summer.
Pixies, one of the bands of the alternative rock boom of the 1990s, canceled their fall 2021 tour Monday. The band was set to play Sept. 18 at the Generac Power Stage, the Summerfest website said.
"We have determined that with the current surge in COVID cases — made worse by the Delta variant — that this is the right decision for our fans and crew members' safety, as well as our own," the band said in a statement.
