MILWAUKEE, WI — A car driving the wrong way on Interstate 43 went off-road in a construction zone and became wedged between steel girders early Sunday morning, according to a statement from the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office.
Calls came in around 5 a.m. reporting the wrong-way driver near Capitol and Silver Spring Drives, according to a report by FOX6 News. Deputies soon found the vehicle wedged between the beams and located a 28-year-old Milwaukee man trapped inside, the sheriff's office said in a post on Facebook. Below the car was a slope and about 40 feet until the ground, according to the sheriff's office.
A deputy tried checking on the man and called in the North Shore and Milwaukee Fire Departments' Heavy Urban Rescue Team to get the man out of the car.
