West Milwaukee Officer Struck By Bullet Fragment: Reports

A West Milwaukee officer was hit by a bullet fragment from another police officer's gun Monday night, police told news outlets.

WEST MILWAUKEE, WI — Police say a West Milwaukee officer was struck by a bullet fragment that another officer had fired Monday evening at an armed man, according to multiple reports.

The officers were responding to a home late Monday near 55th Street and Burnham where someone told police they felt they were about to die. Police say when officers arrived, a man came out of the house and pointed a gun toward police, according to a report by TMJ4 News.

Police said when the suspect pointed a gun, an officer fired one round toward him and missed, but a fragment of the bullet hit another officer causing minor injuries, according to the TMJ4 report.

Police said they used a taser on the man and took him into custody, WISN 12 reported.
