MILWAUKEE, WI — Wisconsin health officials have recorded five new deaths and 304 new cases related to the coronavirus.

Yesterday, Wisconsin saw the biggest 24-hour increase in confirmed cases with 225. Friday's increase was the state's largest one-day increase since the state started counting confirmed cases.

Wisconsin has only seen four 200-plus increases since it started tracking case numbers, and three of the top four have come roughly two weeks after the April 7 presidential primary and statewide general election.

Protesters Gather At State Capitol

Hundreds of people converged on the Wisconsin State Capitol Friday to protest the extension of the state's safer at home order into late May.

According to a FOX 6 report, most protesters ignored social distancing practices and crowded together on the Capitol steps during the protest. "We think there’s been a major overstep in our rights by our governor,” said Paris Procopis, one of the protesters in the report. “We’re here to send Governor Evers a message. The solution is going to be more harmful than the virus itself.”

Observer Sam Li took a high-angle photo of Friday's protests, showing how many people were bunched together on the Capitol lawn.

Observer Clayton Geenen pulled no punches in observing Friday's protests in Madison. "A surreal scene at the Wisconsin State Capitol today. I’m not sure there is any 'normal' to return to. We’ve hit a critical mass of lunatics," he wrote.
