List Of Wisconsin Schools Closing, Staying Open Over Coronavirus
Here is our running list of school district that have decided to stay open, or shut down to prevent the spread of coronavirus in Wisconsin.
NOTE: On Friday, March 13, Wisconsin Gov. Tony Evers directed all K-12 schools, public and private, be closed from March 18-April 6 as a precaution against spreading the new coronavirus, COVID-19. Read This Update Here.
MILWAUKEE, WI — School district across Wisconsin are handling their response to the threat of spreading the new coronavirus, COVID-19, in their own way. Some districts are closing altogether, while others are remaining open with restrictions. Still, others are going the virtual-learning route, where students will take instructions online from their own homes.

Public School Districts
- Brown Deer: closing Monday, March 16, with a tentative re-opening date of April 13. (updated March 13)
- Cedarburg: closing Monday, March 16, with a tentative re-opening date of April 13. (updated March 13)
- Cudahy: all schools will be closed to students beginning Monday, March 16. Closure will continue through April 10. Classes expect to resume on April 14. (updated March 13)
- Elmbrook: beginning on Monday, March 16, all Elmbrook Schools will move to virtual learning, and no students will report to school. Spring break will continue as planned from March 23-27. (updated March 12).
- Fox Point-Bayside: closing Monday, March 16, with a tentative re-opening date of April 13.(updated March 13)
- Germantown: closing Monday, March 16, with a tentative re-opening date of April 13.(updated March 13)
- Glendale-River Hills: closing Monday, March 16, with a tentative re-opening date of April 13.(updated March 13)
- Grafton: closing Monday, March 16, with a tentative re-opening date of April 13.(updated March 13)
- Greendale: schools will be closed and the buildings shut down for a three-week period from March 16 through April 3. (updated March 13)
- Kenosha Unified: all schools will be closed starting Monday, March 16 through Monday, April 6. (Updated March 13).
- Maple Dale-Indian Hill: closing Monday, March 16, with a tentative re-opening date of April 13.(updated March 13)
- Menomonee Falls: the district will close on Monday, March 16 in favor of alternative learning. Spring break will continue as scheduled March 23-27. (updated March 13)
- Mequon-Thiensville: closing Monday, March 16, with a tentative re-opening date of April 13.(updated March 13)
- Milwaukee Public Schools: all schools will be closed starting Monday, March 16 through Tuesday, April 14. MPS spring break is scheduled from April 6-13. (Updated March 13).
- Nicolet Union High School: closing Monday, March 16, with a tentative re-opening date of April 13. (updated March 13)
- Northern Ozaukee: closing Monday, March 16, with a tentative re-opening date of April 13.(updated March 13)
- Oconomowoc: all school buildings will be closed through Friday, March 20. March 16 and 17 are off days. Online instruction will begin Wednesday, March 18. Spring break is scheduled from March 21-29 as planned. (updated March 13)
- Oak Creek-Franklin Joint School District: all schools will be closed the week of Monday, March 16. Spring Break will continue as planned from March 23-27. (updated March 13)
- Port Washington: closing Monday, March 16, with a tentative re-opening date of April 13. (updated March 13)
- Racine Unified: all schools will be closed starting Monday, March 16 through April 6. (Updated March 13).
- Saint Francis: all schools will be closed starting March 14 through April 13. This includes all extracurricular activities. (updated March 13)
- Shorewood: closing Monday, March 16, with a tentative re-opening date of April 13. (updated March 13)
- Waukesha: canceled face to face classes for students Monday, March 16 through March 20. Students should expect virtual learning from home to occur starting on Wednesday, March 18 and continue through March 20. Spring Break is the week of March 23. Before classes resume on March 30, the School District of Waukesha will have additional information as to how instruction and attendance will be handled beginning March 30. (updated March 13)
- Wauwatosa: the district is moving to virtual learning on Tuesday, March 17 through the 20th. Spring Break is March 23-27. (updated March 13)
