• Plans for a new sales tax in Sturgeon Bay are moving forward (fox11online.com) — Minocqua is now explicitly authorized in the new state budget to adopt a premier resort area tax, similar to one Sturgeon Bay is moving toward implementing on tourism-related purchases. Sturgeon Bay officials expect the half‑percent tax to raise hundreds of thousands of dollars annually for infrastructure while requiring a corresponding reduction in property tax levy limits. Minocqua leaders could pursue a similar approach if they choose.

• Gwendolyn Scharf - Vilas County News-Review (vcnewsreview.com) — A longtime Northwoods resident, Gwendolyn Sue Scharf, passed away November 28 at Careview Nursing Home in Minocqua, with funeral services and burial planned for spring. Born in Eagle River in 1948, she built a life centered on family, work in several Wisconsin communities, and simple joys like reading, gardening, and crafting Christmas decorations.
