Who Is New Berlin's Next Citizen Of The Year?: City Seeks Submissions

New Berlin is looking for citizens to nominate people for the 2022 Citizen of the Year Award, according to a news release from the city.

NEW BERLIN, WI — The City of New Berlin Mayor's Office is now looking for nominations from citizens for the city's 2022 Citizen of the Year Award, according to a news release from the city.

The city asked people and groups to submit a written nomination of someone about recent or ongoing achievements with a letter that is 500 words or less, the news release said. Nominations for the 2022 award are due by Aug. 31, and must be about a New Berlin citizen.

The Mayor's Office will judge each nomination based on contributions to the welfare of the community, civic achievement, volunteerism, a contribution of something with a lasting effect on the city, and enrichment of the cultural, civic or youth facilities of the city.

The most recent winners of the award include Dr. Arthur Angove in 2021, Barbara Jacob in 2020, and Ted Wysocki in 2019.

The city said nominations can be sent via email to Maya Schneider at mschneider@newberlin.org or through mail to Mayor’s Office, 3805 South Casper Drive, New Berlin, WI 53151.
