Crab Leg Thief Cannot Elude Oak Creek Police: Report

According to police, the person was arrested on suspicion of retail theft and also on bail jumping.

OAK CREEK, WI — A man who tried stealing five bags of crab legs from the Oak Creek Meijer thought they were in the clear, until Oak Creek police tracked the thief down in the city, police said.

According to Oak Creek police call logs, officers were sent to the Oak Creek Meijer at just before 4 p.m. on Feb. 3 on a report that someone stole $199 in crab legs from the frozen food section of the store.

When police investigated the call, they tracked down the person who stole the crab legs in the 300 block of W. Drexel Ave. Police noted that five bags of crab legs were sitting in the back seat.

According to police, the person was arrested on suspicion of retail theft and also on bail jumping.

Police said K9 Nox, a drug-sniffing dog, was called to the site of the arrest and was made to sniff around the car. When Nox signaled that there may be drugs in the car, officers conducted a search and found a glass crack pipe, a syringe with brown liquid, and a metal cooker tin with residue inside the car's cabin.
