Driver Hit Tree, Destroyed Mailbox On Drexel: Report

Police said another passenger felt extreme left leg pain attributable to a possible fractured femur and dislocated hip.

OAK CREEK, WI — Police in Oak Creek say a man has been cited for failing to maintain control of his vehicle following a crash on E. Drexel Ave.

According to Oak Creek police call logs, a 44-year-old South Milwaukee man was behind the wheel of his car as he drove east on the 1700 block of E. Drexel Ave. at just after 3:30 a.m. on Feb. 8 when his front passenger wheel jolted, wobbled and forced his vehicle hard to the right.

Police said the driver told officers that his car hit a curb, drove over a city-owned tree and slid for between 150-200 feet uphill over a snowbank before stopping after hitting a second tree, destroying a mailbox and rolling over onto its driver's side.

According to police, a passenger was transported to Froedtert Hospital for left leg trauma. He was not wearing his seat belt and was trapped inside the vehicle. Police said another passenger felt extreme left leg pain attributable to a possible fractured femur and dislocated hip. The driver reportedly had injuries to both hands and his right shoulder.
