Drunk Driver Crashed Into Pole, Tried Getting Away: Police

Police said a concerned citizen call police over the crash, and officers responded within minutes.

OAK CREEK, WI — Police in Oak Creek say a drunk driver was arrested after he crashed into a pole and tried getting away.

According to Oak Creek police call logs, officers were called to the 100 block of E. Susan Drive just after 11 p.m. on March 9 on a report that a car crashed into a pole, and the driver was trying to get away.

Police said a concerned citizen call police over the crash, and officers responded within minutes.

According to police, the driver, a 35-year-old Oak Creek man was driving east through the intersection at Howell Ave. and Susan Drive when he ran into the light pole on the southeast corner of the intersection.

Police said the driver was arrested on suspicion of his first drunken driving offense after he failed standard field sobriety tests, and recorded a .30 blood alcohol concentration after he was given a preliminary breath test.
