Huffington Post Joins AOL Family

It was a happy day all around Wisconsin today, what with our Green Bay Packers returning from Dallas with the Lombardi Trophy in tow. 

It was also a big day for AOL. The company announced today it acquired Huffington Post and brought its co-founder, Arianna Huffington, into the AOL fold.

Huffington is one of the most successful entrepreneurs on the Internet, co-founding the Huffington Post six years ago.

The deal was finalized at halftime of the Super Bowl. 

"Arianna is a singularly passionate and dedicated champion of innovative journalistic engagement, and a master of the art of using new media to illuminate, entertain and enhance the national conversation," AOL CEO Tim Armstrong said in a news release. "Arianna is a remarkable person and she will continue to create remarkable outcomes for the combined company."
