Man Bought Car With Stolen Plates, Gets Pulled Over: Report

Police in Oak Creek say the driver of a vehicle didn't realize he was driving a car that had license plates from a stolen car.

OAK CREEK, WI — Police in Oak Creek say the driver of a vehicle didn't realize he was driving a car that had license plates from a stolen car.

According to Oak Creek police call logs, an officer on patrol in the 100 block of W. Rawson Ave. pulled over the driver of a vehicle at just after 5 p.m. on Jan. 13 because the vehicle's registration didn't match the vehicle.

Police said they pulled the driver of the vehicle over into the Farm and Fleet parking lot. When police questioned the driver, he said he bought the car on Dec. 19 for $320 with the same plates on it.

The officer told the driver that the vehicle to which the plates were registered had been reported stolen out of Milwaukee. The officer confiscated the license plates, and cited the driver for failing to have a registered vehicle and for driving without insurance.
