OAK CREEK, WI — The Oak Creek Farmers Market will celebrate its fifth anniversary on Saturday with special events, gifts, cake and more, according to a news release from the city.

The market, which the city touts as the fastest growing in Milwaukee County, will feature its gathering of vendors, farmers and makers on Saturday, with a few special events beyond. The market takes place at Drexel Town Square, Oak Creek's downtown, in an area developed specially for the farmers market.

The anniversary celebration on Saturday will include rock painting, and the first 150 patrons will get a reusable market bag from Ignite Medical Resort. Visitors will also get the chance to win a basket of products from all the vendors, the city said. The cake will be distributed at 11 a.m.

“Five years ago this Saturday, we opened for the first time, and we have continued to grow since,” said Dawn Carrillo, the market's manager, in the news release.

The market regularly features live music, children's programs, a nearby splash pad, bathrooms, a nearby nature preserve and more, Carillo said.

“We have the most unique market around, located in our downtown city park; it is great for kids and dogs," Carillo said.

The markets take place at Drexel Town Square each Saturday through October from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. You can expect farm-fresh foods, produce, eggs, meats, honey and flowers, plus seasonal items like strawberries, corn, apples and more.

The market is located west of Howell Avenue and south of Drexel Avenue. The land used to be the site of Delco Electronics.
