Firefighter Johnathan Leanna distinguished himself by his on-duty actions on the 22nd of June, 2022. On this day, Firefighter Leanna was assigned as the Motor Pump Operator on Engine 182 and responded to a second-alarm structure fire. While completing his assigned duties, Firefighter Leanna noticed the roof of the building was beginning to sag and become structurally unstable. Without hesitation, Firefighter Leanna relayed to his Lieutenant that the roof was in danger of immediate collapse. Operations ordered the immediate evacuation of the building ensuring that all fire companies could exit the structure. Firefighter Leanna’s situational awareness of the deteriorating fire conditions allowed for the safe evacuation of two fire companies; potentially saving the lives of eight firefighters. Within minutes of issuing the the evacuation order, the roof of the structure collapsed. By his wise judgment and uncompromising dedication to the safety of his fellow firefighters, Firefighter Leanna reflected great credit upon himself and of the Oak Creek Fire Department.
