Oak Creek Franklin Joint School District Hosts First Ever OC Olympics!
Mr. Butler talked to the Olympians, families and volunteers about his own challenges growing up as a child with special needs.

On Sunday, Nov. 7 the OCFSD Special Education Parent Advisory - Events Committee hosted its 1st OC Olympics for children and young adults with special needs in Oak Creek and surrounding cities. The Opening Ceremony was kicked off with former Green Bay Packer LeRoy Butler and his daughter Danielle leading the Olympians around the track. Mr. Butler talked to the Olympians, families and volunteers about his own challenges growing up as a child with special needs.

The OC Olympics hosted 16 events ranging from quiet activities to more physical events including tug-a-war, the long jump, shot put, an obstacle course, football toss, lightning, bowling and much more. More than 100 volunteers from OCFSD, the OC Police and Fire Department and several athletic teams, along with members of the National Honor Society, and the OC Volunteers participated in making the day a success!
The Olympians and their families enjoyed hot dogs, homemade mac & cheese, popcorn and numerous other items donated by community businesses, police department and OCFSD staff members as well as desserts from the Short & Sweet food truck. Volunteers sported their green OC Olympic shirts created by Ultimate Screen Print & Embroidery. The Olympians were also able to purchase shirts and families could purchase - “Fan of…” shirts in support of their athlete.

The day was filled with lots of smiles and fun and finished off with each Olympian receiving their OC Olympic medal. All our Olympians were provided the support they needed, participated in as many events as they wanted for as long as they wanted and got to have some fun with our volunteers, Sparky from the fire department and five OC School Mascots.
The OCFSD Special Education Parent Advisory - Community Events Committee is hoping to make a yearly event in either spring or early fall next year. Stay tuned!
