OAK CREEK, WI — Numerous student-athletes at Oak Creek High School signed letters of intent on Wednesday, according to a tweet from Knights Athletics. Tens of thousands of student-athletes across America sign the letter of intent each year, declaring their decision on which college to attend as their athletic careers continue beyond high school.

The letter marks an agreement between a student and a college that often includes an athletic aid or scholarship agreement, and in return for the aid, a student commits to attending the university for one academic year, according to nationalletter.org.

The day frequently brings big news for students and universities alike as athletes commit and teams learn about their future rosters. Additionally, unless a student decides not to enroll, signing a letter of intent effectively ends their college athletics recruitment as recruiters are banned from contacting the student, according to the National Letter of Intent website.
