Residential Spring Clean Up Begins Monday For Oak Creek

Items should be left near the curb by early Monday morning to be guaranteed a pick-up, the city announced.

OAK CREEK, WI — Oak Creek's spring cleanup for homes begins on Monday.

The Department of Public Works will be visiting houses and condominiums that have city-provided trash to pick up items ranging from furniture to lumber and certain garden clippings, the city announced in a Facebook post.

Most items left by the curb will be picked up free of charge, but other items will require payment ahead of Monday, the city said. Residents should have their items roadside by 6:45 a.m. on Monday to expect a pickup. The next pickup like this one is scheduled to take place in November.

Here's what the city will pick up:

  • Garden clippings, but not leaves, grass or branches.
  • Furniture.
  • Lumber.
  • Appliances. Doors need to be removed from refrigerators and appliances containing freon have a $15 charge.
  • Construction materials that are not from a contractor.
  • Metal.
  • Mattresses.
  • Televisions for a $20 charge.
  • Carpeting, rugs and padding that are no more than 4 feet wide.

  • Paint.
  • Tires.
  • Batteries.
  • Hazardous waste.
  • Grass clippings.
  • Leaves.
  • Dirt.
  • Branches.
  • Fluorescent lighting.
  • Concrete and stones.

If you're looking to have DPW pick up an appliance with freon or a television, the fee should be paid before Monday, the city said. Cash or a check can be dropped off at the DPW, 800 West Puetz Road, 7 a.m.-3 p.m. on weekdays. Payments can also be mailed, alongside with your name, phone, address and a list of what is being picked up.
