Shoppers Tried Stopping Liquor Thief With Cart Full Of Booze

Police in Oak Creek say at least two people tried getting in the way of a man who stole more than $600 in liquor from a local grocery store.

OAK CREEK, WI — Police in Oak Creek say at least two people tried getting in the way of a man who stole more than $600 in liquor from a local grocery store.

According to Oak Creek police call logs, officers were called to the Pick 'n Save at 8770 S. Howell Ave at just after 7 p.m. on Dec. 14 on a report of a liquor theft from the store.

Police said they were called to the store after a man pushed a shopping cart full of liquor out of the store and into the parking lot. While pushing his alcohol-laden cart through the parking lot, he was reportedly confronted by at least two other shoppers, who tried blocking him from leaving.

According to police, the two shoppers tried, but did not succeed in impeding the liquor thief's flight from Pick 'n Save.

When police investigated, they found that the value of the liquor stolen was in excess of $600. Police in their notes described the suspect's vehicle as a 2002 Chevy Malibu.
