PORT WASHINGTON, WI — Nonprofit groups are keystone community organizations in the Port Washington and Saukville area. Fortunately, there is no shortage of organizations to volunteer for or get behind financially.

Here are five nonprofit groups you should know about in the Port Washington area:

1. Big Brothers Big Sisters of Ozaukee County: The organization seeks to pair adult role models with youth across the Ozaukee County area to serve as a mentor and friend. The organization accepts applications for mentoring, child enrollment and donations.

2. The Community Chest of Port Washington: A group established in 1949 "to raise and distribute funds to qualified charities dedicated to improving the Port Washington community for all residents. We are The People of Port Helping the People of Port."

3. Port Washington Food Pantry: A group across Ozaukee County that is "working together to alleviate hunger in our community by acquiring and distributing food to those who seek aid."
