Port Fifth-grader Advocates for Diabetes Research in Washington

Ten-year-old Shannon Knowski knows all too well about tackling challenges.
Still Knowski, a Port Washington fifth-grader who at just 11-months-old was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes, she is a little nervous about speaking before Congress on the importance of funding research for a cure, the Ozaukee Press reports.
Knowski was one of four children from the state chosen to serve as delegates for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation Children’s Congress, the Press reports.
