Residents can email nominations in six categories, from best new small business to decades of dedication, with winners to be celebrated at a January State of the Downtown event at The Red Onion.

Racine wins $40 million from state program to help with lead pipe replacement, reduce childhood poisoning (racinecountyeye.com) — Racine is receiving a massive $40 million boost from Wisconsin’s Lead Service Line Replacement Program, with over half as forgivable grant funding to speed up pipe replacement. City officials say this will significantly accelerate ongoing efforts to remove lead lines, aiming to protect children and adults from long-term health risks and improve community well-being.

Environmentalists Sue for Information About Beaver Dam AI Data Center (dailydodge.com) — Racine is now entangled in a transparency fight over massive new data centers, as an environmental group sues the city for not releasing projected water-use data tied to Microsoft’s Mount Pleasant facility. The same group is also suing Wisconsin’s Public Service Commission for withholding energy-use details about Meta’s $1 billion Beaver Dam data center, arguing residents deserve to know the environmental footprint of these projects.

Living Word Lutheran Wrestling Team Stays Undefeated (gmtoday.com) — Racine St. Catherine’s/Racine Lutheran’s co-op wrestling team fell 42-26 to undefeated Living Word Lutheran in a nonconference quadrangular, despite strong efforts in the upper weights. The Racine squad was part of a competitive night that also saw Living Word edge Ozaukee thanks to several dramatic pins.
