Speedway group given tentative green flag (newmedia-wi.com) — Plans to shorten Shawano Speedway from a half-mile to three-eighths of a mile just cleared a key county straw poll, but officials still want detailed designs, contracts, and funding answers before approving construction. Supporters say a smaller track would improve safety, attract more drivers, and free up about five acres for additional Shawano County Fair vendors and camping after the 2026 fair.
   

2. Shawano County Library Prepares for Yearlong Community Read Program (tchdailynews.com) — Shawano County Library is launching a yearlong Community Read in January, inviting residents to explore four featured books through quarterly discussions. With events at all branches and Facebook Live sessions, Shawano-area readers can join in however they like and participate from any community in the county.
   

3. Shawano Rec Center Construction Making Visible Progress, June Completion Targeted (tchdailynews.com) — Shawano’s new Rec Center on East Division Street is on track for construction to wrap up around June, with the building shell already taking shape. Parks and Recreation Director Matt Hendricks says the expanded facility will add much-needed community meeting space, and staff will spend a few weeks moving in before opening the doors to residents.
   

4. Shawano Boys & Girls Club Program Wins Statewide Award for Creative Student Production (tchdailynews.com) — Shawano kids at the Boys and Girls Club’s Hillcrest Primary site just earned a statewide Outstanding Program Award for their original play, The Magical Donut Shop. Guided by local staff, 17 young students spent the year building creativity and confidence, capped by a family performance and a donut-coloring partnership with a nearby nursing home and Dunkin’ Donuts.
