• Former Cudahy YMCA could become community rec center run by school districts (jsonline.com) — South Milwaukee and Cudahy school districts are exploring buying the former Cudahy YMCA to create a shared community recreation center, which could add about $50 a year in taxes for a $250,000 South Milwaukee home. A Dec. 17 meeting at the South Milwaukee School District board room will explain plans, including a possible pool, expanded gym space, and after-school gathering areas.
   

• Milwaukee County EMS blood transfusion program looks to expand (spectrumnews1.com) — South Milwaukee firefighters are now among seven Milwaukee County departments carrying type O+ blood for life-saving transfusions before patients reach the hospital. In the program’s first year, 38 people, including four children, received blood en route, and county health leaders now plan to expand the equipment to protect even more residents across communities like South Milwaukee.
