8-Year-Old Goes Missing for 3 Hours but Found by Friend’s Mother

Police department issued alert to area neighbors

An 8-year-old went missing for about three hours Wednesday evening but was found by the mother of the child’s friend, Waukesha Police Sgt. Jerry Habanek said.

An alert went out to the area neighbors and the woman recognized the child. The woman went to her child to talk about the missing 8-year-old, Habanek said.

“They were hiding in the closet,” Habanek said.

The child was reported missing around 5 p.m. and was found at about 8 p.m. The city garage, police department, fire department and all other dispatch-equipped city vehicles were notified of the missing child and were on the lookout for the child.

Information about what area of the city the child was missing from was not immediately available.
