After Burglary, Waukesha Woman Asking For Help Tracking Down Lion

The lion, named Little Literary, is very important to the studio, she said. It's been a fixture at the business over the last eight years.

"We heard the sounds, looked out and saw two people scooping books out by the armful," she said.

WAUKESHA, WI — A Waukesha woman is hoping someone can track down her stone decorative lion after two suspects burglarized her business Friday.

Kathie Giorgio, owner of AllWriters' Workplace and Workshop, 234 Brook Street Unit 2, says the Little Free Library in front of business was broken into at about 1 a.m. Friday.

"We heard the sounds, looked out and saw two people scooping books out by the armful," she said. "My husband pounded on the window and they ran to their car, parked in the street, and took off, but we got their license plate"

Kathie said she and her husband called the police. The police tracked the burglars to their house. The books that were taken were found inside the car, she said, but there was something important still missing.

"When we went down to meet the officers, we found that our concrete sitting lion, who sits under the Little Library, was also gone. Police did not find him in the car, and they were not allowed access to the house," she said.

"He is our mascot, and he also is great entertainment for the kids when parents look through the Little Free Library. We want him back. Any help in the community to get him back would be much appreciated," she said.
