Golden State Warriors Pick Hamilton High School Alum In 2022 NBA Draft

SUSSEX, WI — The Golden State Warriors picked a University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee men's basketball team player on Thursday during the 2022 NBA Draft, the basketball team announced.

Before Patrick Baldwin Jr. played for Milwaukee, the 6-foot-10-inches-tall athlete played for the Hamilton Chargers, the boys' basketball team at Hamilton High School in Waukesha County.

A video by the Hamilton basketball program caught the moment Baldwin Jr. and his family learned about him being the next Golden State pick.

"Safe travels as you head to California to join your new Warriors team," the athletic program said in a separate tweet. "Your Charger Family is so proud of you!"

Baldwin Jr. will likely play alongside the Golden State Warriors' other young picks, Jonathan Kuminga, Moses Moody and James Wiseman at the NBA Summer League in July, NBC Sports reported.

The alum is the first draft pick for the Milwaukee men's basketball program in over 30 years, the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee said in a statement.

The Golden State Warriors won against the Boston Celtics in a seven game series at the 2022 NBA Finals on June 16. The Warriors have recruited other players with Milwaukee connections, including Jordan Poole, Kevon Looney and Marquette University's Juan Toscano-Anderson.

"The champs!" Baldwin Jr. tweeted out. "Can't wait to get to work."
