More Excessive Tax Claims Filed Against the City
City Attorney's office is recommending the city deny four claims.

The Common Council was going to take up the claim filed on behalf of at its last regularly scheduled council meeting. That meeting was canceled because of the blizzard.
Three additional excessive tax claims are on the agenda for Thursday’s meeting, which is being pushed back two days because of Tuesday’s primary election.

Avicom Properties, Shiv Hotel and James Marriott have filed the three additional claims.
Avicom Properties, 2120 Pewaukee Road, is claiming the property was assessed at 100.39 percent of its fair market value to be worth $3.82 million. The company was assessed $77,038 in 2010, according to the claim.
The claim alleges the fair market value of the property is $3.2 million and Avicom is seeking $12,306 plus interest back from its taxes.
Shiv Hotel Corporation, owner of the Best Western at 2840 N. Grandview Blvd., is claiming it was assessed at 100.39 percent of the fair market value and is seeking $13,547 in returned taxes, plus interest.
Marriott is claiming that property at 3414 Sequoia Circle was assessed at 100.39 percent of fair market value and is seeking $2,064 in taxes plus interest returned to the property owner.
