Waukesha Garage Fire Started With Air Conditioner: Report

WAUKESHA, WI — Authorities in Waukesha say a garage fire was quickly put out, but not before the fire damaged a resident's detached garage.

According to Waukesha police call logs, officers and firefighters responded to a home on the 700 block of N. Glenn Drive at just before 7:30 p.m. on Nov. 11 on a report of a garage fire.

Police said an officer at the scene spoke with the homeowner. The man told police he saw a flickering light coming from behind his garage. When he went to take a closer look, he saw that his air conditioner had caught fire, according to police.

Police said the homeowner's air conditioner was about 15 years and that he hadn't used it in quite some time.

The Waukesha Fire Department quickly put out the fire, though the interior of the garage suffered extensive fire and smoke damage.
