Police identified the victim as 47-year-old Sunita Suratu Balogun-Olayiwola. She was killed after trying to intervene in an auto theft at the Holiday Inn located at 11111 W. North Avenue, police said.
Wrucke described Balogun-Olayiwola as a good Samaritan and someone who would intervene if she saw something wrong. She immigrated to America from Nigeria in 2006.

She was driving in the area when she noticed the attempted auto theft, Wrucke said.
“She attempted to alert staff to contact police but there was a communication barrier,” Wrucke said.”Shortly thereafter, Sunita had an interaction with the suspects.”
That led to an altercation between her and the suspects, Wrucke said.
“Ultimately, one of the suspects was able to enter her car and struck her,” he said.
They got into her car and fled the area, Wrucke said.
Police received simultaneous calls about the attempted auto theft at the Holiday Inn and about the pedestrian who was hit, police said.
On Thursday night, investigators found Olayiwola’s car with four people in it. After a short pursuit, the driver got away and the car was later found abandoned in Milwaukee, Wrucke said.
