Did you know that the United States flags we hang on North Avenue from Wauwatosa Avenue to 124th Street were purchased through a generous donation? The flags experience a lot of wear and tear each year. In some years we have to replace as many as 65 flags. We would love to continue the tradition of purchasing new flags through donations from the community. Each 3 foot by 5 foot US flag costs around $72. If you are interested in making a donation to support the program, you can drop off a check at City Hall or the Public Works Department. Make your check out to City of Wauwatosa and write flag donation in the memo line.

Do you want to own a piece of Wauwatosa’s history? If you make a donation, we would be happy to let you have one of the flags, but please be aware that they are very worn. Flags are available for pick up only at the Department of Public Works. Questions? Contact Melissa Weiss, Deputy City Administrator, at mweiss@wauwatosa.net.
