He also details the costly damage from August’s historic floods, ongoing rebuilding in the village and parks, and a looming “fiscal cliff” that could force cuts to city services if budget gaps continue. 
• Wauwatosa West rises in area boys basketball rankings with team of the week nod (jsonline.com) — Wauwatosa West’s boys basketball team has surged in the Milwaukee-area rankings after a strong week that included a rivalry win over Wauwatosa East. The Trojans’ balanced scoring and standout performances have them tied atop the Greater Metro Conference. Local fans can circle Dec. 19, when Brookfield Central visits Wauwatosa West in a key early-season showdown.
• Milwaukee County EMS blood transfusion program looks to expand (spectrumnews1.com) — Wauwatosa firefighters are now among seven Milwaukee County departments carrying type O+ blood to perform life-saving transfusions before patients reach the hospital. In the program’s first year, 38 people, including four children, received blood en route, and county health leaders plan to expand the effort so more residents are covered during severe trauma emergencies.
