Does New Fence Ruin Sledding on Longfellow Hill?

Some residents complained, but the fence was part of complying with WIAA regulations for Wauwatosa East High School.

Installation of a fence at the bottom of a Wauwatosa neighborhood sledding hill has upset some area residents.

Wauwatosa NOW reported that the outfield fence was installed on the softball diamond at Longfellow Middle School on behalf of Wauwatosa East High School. The Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association requires an outfield fence on all tournament diamonds beginning in 2014.

A 9-year-old boy told NOW that the fence “spoils the sledding,” as it sits as the base of a steep grade beyond the diamond.
