Elderly Man Carjacked Outside Nursing Home 2 Arrested After Chase

Police said the carjackers fled the nursing home in the stolen car, and got caught after they tried running through a cemetery.

WAUWATOSA, WI — Two men have been arrested and charged after authorities say they carjacked an elderly man in the parking lot of a nursing home in Wauwatosa.

Authorities say Antione Brown, of Milwaukee and Rayshawn Norwood of Irma have been arrested and charged in the case, and are being held in the Milwaukee County Jail.

According to Wauwatosa police, officers were sent to Luther Manor just before 2 p.m. on May 6 on a report that a 69-year-old man had been carjacked in the parking lot of the senior community.

When police asked the elderly man what happened, he told police that he had driven his 4014 gray Kia Soul to the Luther Manor parking lot to drop off something for his wife when two men approached him, the criminal complaint stated.

Authorities said one of the men pointed a gun at him and ordered him to "drop his keys on the ground," in the parking lot. Police said the two men got in the car and sped away.

According to police, a police detective who was on patrol in an unmarked car, saw a vehicle matching the description of the stolen vehicle at just after 5 p.m. that evening. Police said the drivers fled from police, leading them on a high-speed chase.

Police said the chase ended when the car ran a red light, collided with a Mercedes and landed on top of a large boulder near the entrance of a the Lincoln Memorial cemetery. Police said the chase, which wound through Wauwatosa and Milwaukee neighborhoods at up to 80 miles per hour, went 4.9 miles.

Police said the driver, Norwood, tried to run from the crash, but was quickly arrested by police.

According to police, Brown ran through the cemetery, and pulled a black handgun from his waistband and dropped it on the ground during his flight from police.

According to police, Brown was eventually captured inside the cemetery.
