Froedtert Visitor Policy Changes: What You Need To Know

WAUWATOSA, WI— No visitors will be allowed in urgent care locations, emergency departments or hospitals at Froedtert & the Medical College of Wisconsin, according to the hospital's website.

The visitor policy changes are effective on Wednesday.

Patch reached out to the hospital on Wednesday.

Patients with disabilities or who are minors, regardless of COVID-19 status; end-of-life decisions and care; and other limited situations are exceptions.

The Birth and Cancer Center allows one visitor and if a person has an appointment or procedure without a hospital stay, the website said.

Froedtert & The Medical College of Wisconsin changed the type of face masks people wear in the facilities. Instead of cloth masks, everyone must wear a medical-grade face mask.

The change was effective on Jan. 1, according to a hospital spokesperson.
"The Froedtert & the Medical College of Wisconsin health network continues to experience record setting admissions, ED visits and hospitalizations. Everyone in our facilities is required to wear a medical-grade mask at all times. We will supply a mask for those who don't have one, the spokesperson said.

Exceptions will be made for patients who are unable to wear a face mask due to a medical condition or disability, the website said.

A medical-grade face mask must be worn by visitors and staff at all times. This includes when in a patient's room.
