Wauwatosa's Hart Park has many park amenities for all visitors to enjoy. This year, visitors can look forward to some updated features near the playground area.
In late April 2023, the city will start phase 1 of improvements of Hart Park's playground area. This includes increasing the amount of greenspace in the area, increasing seating, new concrete walkways, and new landscaping.

During this construction, access to the playground will be closed off by a fence. We anticipate reopening the play area by Memorial Day.
In fall 2023, we will have a second phase of improvements that includes resurfacing of play areas, installation of a "forever lawn" instead of a rubber surface, and new playground pieces like musical instruments and motion play. Most of the pieces are designed to be accessible for all ages and abilities. Some of the play equipment, for example, is designed in a way so that a person in a wheelchair could more easily use it.
This project is primarily designed and managed by city staff. Our landscape architect, parks and forestry superintendent, Public Works team members, and others have all contributed to the project.
