Wauwatosa Considering Property Tax Penalty Waiver
Wauwatosa officials are considering a local resolution that would waive penalties for late property tax payments.

WAUWATOSA, WI — On Tuesday, city officials are planning to entertain a resolution that would waive interest and penalties on late real estate property tax payments.
According to Wauwatosa Common Council meeting documents, city officials are seeking approval to authorize city officials to waive such penalties for payments with an installment due date of May 31 that are received after their due date and paid by Oct. 1.
The Wauwatosa Common Council plans to take up the resolution Tuesday night.

The move in Wauwatosa comes after officials on the Milwaukee County Board voted unanimously to allow the county's municipalities to waive interest and penalties so long as they're paid by Oct. 1.
As a provision of the County Board's vote, municipalities such as Wauwatosa would have to pass their own similar resolution to finalize the waiver.
