In an average year our crews make three leaf collection passes through the city. This year, there was a change in weather near the end of our first pass which caused nearly all leaves to fall within a short period of time followed by some very nice weather that motivated residents to get their raking done for the season. These events have caused our 2nd pass through the city to have extreme volumes of leaves, which in turn, slows our progress through the city significantly. Until today, due to the snow, we have had every available piece of equipment on leaf collection and have had crews working on Saturdays and we have extended weekday shifts until dark. Unfortunately the snow has slowed us down, but we are still collecting today and tomorrow as much as we can with the staff we have available.
In order to alleviate some resident concerns we are extending final rake out to November 27, 2022. We are also offering free drop off at the Drop-off Center for anyone who would like to drop their leaves off instead of waiting for us to collect them.
