Wauwatosa Saz's Celebrates Anniversary With '70s Theme

WAUWATOSA, WI—Dust off the polyester suit or a Fonzie "Happy Days" jacket if you have one for a month-long celebration.

Saz's State House,5539 W State St., is asking patrons to party like it is 1976 for its 45th anniversary in March.

The year was 1976.

Steve (Saz) Sazama opened the Saz's State house on 55th and State in 1976 in a historic building next to the railroad tracks. Saz spent his days and nights slinging drinks at the neighborhood tavern around the unique “Round Bar," according to Saz's website.

Saz featured his own specialty BBQ sauce slathered on fall-off-the-bone baby back ribs.

Fast forward a few years to the Summer festival scene where Saz brought his famous ribs to hungry crowds. The “cheese egg roll” was added to the roster around this time.

"As any proud Milwaukeean knows, no event, anniversary, or milestone is too small to celebrate, but this is a big year for us, so don your best sapphires (or Saz’s apparel) and head down to Saz’s State House to help us celebrate in style," the website said.

Throughout the month of March the restaurant will offer specials:

• Four Pulled BBQ Pork Sandwiches with Sour Cream & Chive Fries, and a full order of Mozzarella Marinara for $45.
• Two Full Rack Rib Dinners with House Slaw, Mac n’ Cheese, and a full order of Mozzarella Marinara for $45.
