Weekend Interstate 41 Closure Delayed By Forecast: WisDOT
A weekend-long closure of Interstate 41 between Burleigh and Watertown Plank has been delayed from its scheduled Friday start.
WAUWATOSA, WI — A full Interstate 41 closure between Burleigh Street and Watertown Plank Road planned for this weekend has been delayed, according to the Wisconsin Department of Transportation.
The work, originally scheduled to take place late Friday evening through early Monday, will be delayed at least one week because thunderstorms are in the forecast, WisDOT Southeast Region said in a Twitter post.
Crews were scheduled to install new beams across the Union Pacific Railroad Bridge in the area. A Facebook post from the Wisconsin Zoo Interchange North Leg Project showed one of the first beams to arrive, weighing in at 190,000 pounds and 115 feet long.
