Grizzly Bear Attacks Hiker In Surprise Encounter On Wyoming Peak
An experienced, out-of-state hiker was at high elevation on Francs Peak when he was attacked in a surprise encounter with a grizzly bear.

MEETEETSE, WY — A grizzly bear attacked and injured a hiker this week in Wyoming's Absaroka Range.
The man — an experienced, out-of-state hiker — was at high elevation Monday afternoon on Francs Peak, west of Meeteetse, when he came close to the bear, Wyoming Fish and Game said in a news release. The sudden encounter left the man no time to use his bear spray.
The bear attacked and injured the man. Early indications are it was a surprise encounter.
