Here are the top three stories today in Casper:

  1. The City of Casper has received approval from the city council to proceed with the installation of a new playground and picnic shelter at City Park, as well as new playground equipment at Meadowlark Park. The project, funded by one-cent tax funds, has been awarded to Great Western Installations for a contract of $227,224. An additional construction contingency account of $30,000 has been authorized, bringing the total project budget to $257,224. The improvements are expected to be completed by the spring of 2024. 2. The Casper Ice Arena has been running the "BAD" Hockey Program since 2018, offering adults who want to learn hockey a chance to participate. Despite the name, "BAD" stands for Basic Adult Development League, and it has recently expanded into a four-team league, welcoming players from various locations. The program is designed for individuals over 35 or those with little to no experience, offering structured practices and fostering a close-knit hockey community. The program is still open to new participants interested in learning the sport. (Wyoming News Now)
  3. The City of Casper has approved a new lease agreement with Central Wyoming Senior Services for the Casper Senior Citizens Center, increasing the monthly rent over five cycles. The changes in the lease are estimated to generate additional revenue of $5,000 to $7,000, with the monthly rent increasing gradually from $660 to $817 by October 2028, with an option to negotiate rent for each renewal year.
